Contemporary artist recognized on the international scene, Miguel Chevalier has chosen computer science since 1978 as his unique means of expression. He uses it in his experimental and multidisciplinary work. Born in 1959 in Mexico City, he now lives and works in Ile-de-France. Among his favorite themes is nature and in particular plants. He deconstructs them to create and animate virtual flowers which although artificial, nevertheless display aspects of the most natural, but also alive. These are the " Fractal flowers », Virtual plants growing and reacting to the movements of the public and thus seeming to bow to them because, in addition to the virtual nature of its imagery, it is also interactive. As such, Miguel Chevalier is today considered in the world of visual arts as a pioneer of digital art. He imagined in collaboration with the writer, poet and researcher in the relationship between literature and computer science, Jean-Pierre Balpe, the “ Herbarius 2059 ”. This unique kind of herbarium is a virtual reality creation that still has the appearance of a book but nevertheless combines it with inventiveness with digital imagery.
