Art in General : corporate logo / Judi Werthein
Publisher: Art in General General note: Concurrent to the exhibition 25 Years Later… at The UBS Art Gallery, which becomes a site for alternative art and happenings, a new commission by artist Judi Werthein turns Art in General’s gallery into a space reminiscent of a corporate lobby. Through this conceptual reversal, Werthein investigates, both esthetically and critically, the corporatization of culture, and also plays with the trend of arts organizations to devise ever more attractive and unique graphic identities. Partially informed by the ideas (and ideals) of Art in General, Werthein’s design is being used in Art in General’s stationery and website for the duration of its 25th anniversary celebrations. The exhibition Corporate Logo by Judi Werthein is presented at Art in General from September 5-December 15, 2007. The opening reception takes place September 5, at 8 pm with a dance party beginning at 9 pm with DJ A.K. Burns. Corporate Logo by Judi Werthein is part of the the New Commissions Program, which is made possible by The Institute of Museum and Library Services, an independent federal grant-making agency dedicated to creating and sustaining a nation of learners by helping libraries and museums serve their communities; the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts; and the Booth Ferris Foundation. Additional support is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, The Greenwall Foundation, Agnes Gund and Daniel Shapiro, the Jerome Foundation and by individuals. Judi’s project is also made possible with the generous support of Ron and Lucille Neeley.Item type | Current location | Home library | Call number | Status | Date due | Barcode |
