On Rage : Über Wut / Edited by Valerie Smith, Susanne Stemmler and Cordula Hamschmidt
Publisher: Revolver Publishing General note: 14.03-09.05.2010General note: "The purpose of this project is to explore how artists challenge and channel instances of adversity, injustice, intolerance, censorship, and totalitarianism. Many artists approach these positions as a multidimensional, multifaceted phenomenon of individual or collective experience that occasionally incorporates 'inappropriate,' but otherwise critical demonstrations of transcendence. I relate rage or ire not simply to its immediate outbursts and their diverse manifestations, but to the theoretical, abstract, and reflected forms of dealing with the tipping points in human behavior. Über Wut is a project about humanity, about existential modes of expressing discontent. It considers larger political issues, those moments when passion marks the failure of diplomacy, when negotiation breaks down or is simply nonexistent, when other - often unaccepted - forms of expression come into play. The exhibition part revolves around existential modes of expressing discontent, of acclaiming, of producing temporary relief, of reacting to and generating states of emergency, which seem to characterize our current times of highly globalized and complex connections as well as dissolutions."Item type | Current location | Home library | Call number | Status | Date due | Barcode |
